Yes. Fully monitored smoke and carbon monoxide sensors can be added to all our modern home alarm systems.
I need to capture license plates with my security cameras, can your system do that?
Yes. In most cases a specialized license plate capture camera will need to be installed. We will also need to work together to discover the proper installation location. Capturing license plates on moving vehicles while considering a variety of lighting and environmental conditions, both will be required.
How does my alarm system send signals to the monitoring station?
All of our modern systems use the cellular network to send its signals to the monitoring station. In addition, depending on the system, your internet (hardwired or Wi-Fi) can be used as a backup method to the cellular. The cellular connection does not affect customers’ cell phones or cell phone plans and its cost is covered in American Alarm Co.’s monthly monitoring rate.
Can I set my alarm for extra security when I am inside my business after hours?
Yes. Most security systems allow two basic alarm settings, give us a call and we can talk through the particulars related to the system installed at your place of business.
Is it true that I get a discount on my homeowner's insurance for having an alarm installed?
You’ll have to check with your insurance company to be sure but most of the major insurers do offer discounts to homeowners that have security systems installed in their homes.
Can I get a discount on my business insurance policy if I have an alarm installed?
We suggest you talk with your insurance agent or carrier to find out about any discounts offered.
Can I set my alarm for extra security even when I am inside my home
Yes. Most security systems allow two basic alarm settings. One for Home and one for Away.
Can I set my alarm when my dog or cat is home alone?
Yes. If you have pets that often remain in the home when you are away, American Alarm will design a system with motion detectors that are adjusted to be more pet friendly.
I have pets, will that be a problem for the alarm system?
Possibly. Animals, such as cats, tend to cause problems for motion detectors. If you have pets that often remain in the home when you are away, American Alarm will design a system specifically tailored to your needs. Interior Motion detectors can be pet immune for animals weighing up to 88 lbs. if they don’t jump high or climb up on furniture. We may recommend instead omitting interior motion detectors in rooms where high jumping/climbing pets have access to and focus on perimeter protection such as door/window contact protection along with glass breakage and shock sensors protection.
What happens if I accidently set off my alarm?
Enter your personal security code into the keypad to silence the siren. Then please call American Alarm’s monitoring station at 845-564-3763 ext. 0 and provide the operator with your name, address and all ok word/phrase.
I am changing my telephone service to an internet based phone service. Will that affect my alarm system?
It all depends on various factors related to the alarm system that you have. Give us a call and we will be happy to give you a more definitive answer based on your system.
